Q: If I’m new to the world of vaping, what do I need to start?
A: For people that are new to vaping, we recommend investing in a starter kit, which includes:
Q: What is the e-liquid juice made of?
A: E-liquid is a mixture of varying amounts of about 5 different ingredients: water, nicotine, PG (propylene glycol), VG (vegetable glycerin) andflavoring. Some liquids can have additional ingredients, but for the most part, these are the main ingredients of all e-liquids.
Q: Do e-liquids come in different ratios of PG and VG?
A: Yes. They come in different ratios but at the discretion of the manufacturer making them, unless, of course, you are making e-liquid yourself. The most standard is a 50%/50% ratio, though 60%/40%, 70%/30% and even 100% VG do exist. PG is what tends to give you a better throat hit and a lot more flavor. VG, on the other hand, allows your atomizer to produce a lot more vapor. VG e-liquid is a thicker and more sticky fluid, and although most people do not show signs of allergy with PG, there are certain people who complain about having phlegm buildup in their throats. The more VG you use, the less of a throat hit you’re going to get – that’s a general idea.
Q: What is the difference between an atomizer and a cartomizer?
A: An atomizer is basically the heating element in your e-cigarette. The battery sends a charge through this heating element and it 'cooks' your e-juice, basically vaporizing or 'atomizing' your juice into an inhalable form. Normally wick or other filler material holds the juice to this coil. An atomizer then is a unit that screws on to your battery and it houses the heating coil along with wicking material (which is soaked with e-juice).
Originally e-cigs were three-part devices: a battery, an atomizer, and a cartridge to hold the e-liquid. A cartomizer is a device consisting of an atomizer and a cartridge all in one piece, which directly connects to the battery. Many find that a cartomizer (“car to ” for short) eliminates a lot of leaking problems, holds a significant amount of more e-liquid and is easy to screw on to the battery. In the end, it is all a matter of preference and what kind of vapor you are.
Q: How do I know which nicotine levels to buy?
A: This depends on how many cigarettes you are currently smoking. If you smoke a pack or more a day, we recommend you starting at 12mg and weaning down from there. If you smoke a half a pack a day, we recommend 6mg and if you are a light smoker, we recommend 3mg. The goal is to slowly decrease your nicotine levels until you successfully at 0mg!
Q: What is that gurgling sound I hear when I hit my e-cig?
A: That gurgling sound can mean one of two things: one, it is time to replace your atomizer or cartomizer, or two, your tank can be flooded. We recommend you change out your cartomizer about every 2 weeks (depending on usage as it does vary from person to person). If you are a heavy vaper, you should probably be changing it out once a week. If your tank is flooded, simply remove your tank from the battery, take a paper towel and place it over the bottom of the tank. Then hold the tank to your mouth at an angle (with your head and tank tilted upward) and blow out. This should help de-flood your tank.
Q: How long will my battery last?
A: This is dependent on a couple of things: what battery you have and the rating on that battery. Ratings are measured in milliampere-hour (“mAh” for short). The higher the mAh on your battery, the longer your battery will last. Batteries range anywhere from 600 mAh up to 2800 mAh. There are even higher batteries on the market but we only carry up to 2800. The basic 650-mAh batteries can last up to several days (depending, again, on how frequent you are hitting your e-cig). A heavy vaper may only the last ¾ of a day on a 650 battery.
